Jask is a city in Hormozgan province, on the southern coast of Iran, serving as the capital of Jask County and its Central District. Its coastal position along the Gulf of Oman places it among Iran's active submarine cable landing points. Three submarine cables come ashore at Jask, making it one of the more connected landing points in the country's submarine cable infrastructure.
The cables landing at Jask establish bilateral connectivity between Iran and two neighboring states: Oman and the United Arab Emirates. Two of the three cables link Jask to Oman, while a third connects to the UAE, together forming a regional corridor across the waters of the Gulf of Oman and the broader Persian Gulf region. These short-haul links position Jask as a point of regional interconnection rather than a terminus for long-distance intercontinental systems.
OMRAN/EPEG is a submarine cable with a length of approximately 600 km, with a ready-for-service date of 2013. The cable connects Iran and Oman, with Jask serving as one of its Iranian landing points. Its status is listed as draft.
Pishgaman Oman Iran (POI) Network spans approximately 400 km and reached ready-for-service status in 2012. Like OMRAN/EPEG, it links Iran and Oman, with Jask as one endpoint on the Iranian side. Its status is also listed as draft.
UAE-Iran is the oldest cable landing at Jask, with a ready-for-service year of 1992, making it the first submarine cable to land in Iran. At approximately 170 km in length, it connects Iran with the United Arab Emirates. Its status is listed as draft.
Among Iran's seven submarine cable landing points, Jask ties with Chabahar as one of the two sites hosting three cables each, placing both ahead of Bushehr and Soroosh Platform with two cables, and ahead of Bandar Abbas, Ganaveh, and Khark Island with one cable each. Jask therefore ranks among the leading landing points in Iran by cable count.
Jask functions as a multi-cable landing point on Iran's southern coastline, hosting three separate systems that collectively bridge Iran with Oman and the United Arab Emirates. The two Oman-facing cables — OMRAN/EPEG and the POI Network — and the UAE-Iran cable together make Jask a node for short-haul, cross-Gulf connectivity. The UAE-Iran cable, commissioned in 1992, also holds historical significance as the earliest submarine cable to land anywhere in Iran.
Within the regional submarine cable graph of the Gulf of Oman and Persian Gulf, Jask's concentration of three cables directed toward two neighboring states gives it a distinct role as a bilateral corridor hub on Iran's Hormozgan coast.
